Wolverine and his Amazing Friends!

Update: Kevin Durand (Smokin' Aces, 3:10 to Yuma) has been announced as the Blob. He's awesome! This movie, with G.I. Joe are going to be ridiculous, awful and entertaining as hell. They'd better be, anyway. No, they will, because I never, ever, ever expected to see any of the things ever become live action, so I don't even really care.

Good LORD. When they talked about doing the Wolverine movie, I was like, "Cool! Should be interesting. No Jean Grey? I'm in."

Then they had David Benioff writing it, which was pretty sweet, since he also wrote The 25th Hour. And then Gavin Hood was added as a director and NOT Brett Ratner, Uwe Boll or any other jackass. Then there are all of this week's casting, which is crazy!

Wolverine: Hugh Jackman
Sabretooth: Liev Schreiber
Deadpool: Ryan Reynolds
Gambit: Taylor Kitsch
Silver Fox: Lynn Collins
Kestrel (John Wriath): will.i.am
William Stryker: Danny Huston
Barnell Bohusk (Beak/Blackwing): Dominic Monaghan
Agent Zero: Daniel Henny
The Blob: Kevin Durand (they have been testing 800 & 1200 lb fat suits!)

Anyway, it's nuts like X3 was nuts. But honestly, the X-Men comics were always about cramming tons of mutants in, so I'm psyched either way.

The 100 Day Strike Has Ended

signs.jpg

After much grievance and havoc, the writers finally got their piece of the pie and can go back to work! This makes me happy on a wide variety of levels. Most importantly, my friends get to go back to work and get paid! Secondly, SOME of my TV shows will return this year (though not all, and not my faves, either) and lastly (but not leastly)..

The Show Will Go On!

80thposter.jpg

Yes, yes, I know, The Oscars are the "Super Bowl for Women", but I don't care. I @*#&$%ing hate the Super Bowl. Now, thanks to my blessed baby interwebs, I don't even have to tape that @*#^#*ing thing to watch the commercials. Not the point! (also not the point: yes, the poster above was, in fact, designed by the Star Wars poster dude)

Anyway! All this means is that we can host our annual Oscar Party, which always kicks a ridiculous amount of ass. We sat down last night and themed out the food, which, at first glance, was very difficult, compared to last year's glories. But we came up with some real winners, I think. I'm not going to spoil a damn one, though. You'll have to come over to see. Or, um, wait 'til the next day when I post them up...

Now I have to start my massive Photoshop project to rename everything for this year. Trust me, it's no easy task. Also: must create new centerpiece and collect prizes, prizes, prizizes!

Techno-babble

The picture you see here is merely a visual aid as to the techno-nightmare I am in the middle of dealing with. Now, I'm no techno-nerd. I leave all the fiddlings to my friends like Jeff, Conrad, Scott, etc. I'm more of a bungler/bushwacker. (sounds dirty, right?) I'll just push through the quickest/easiest way from point A to point B, checking with Google from time to time if something doesn't work.

Now, onto this week's adventure.

I got the Leopard upgrade. Whoops! Pain in my ASS. Knocked my printer offline, killed my pdf maker, Photoshop and who knows what nightmares have yet to be uncovered. It does some cool other stuff, but this isn't about that. This is about my ass-pain.

I got Dinah Airport Express for Christmas (wireless router for the stereo so you can stream iTunes through the main system), but in order to do that, I also needed an Airport Extreme base unit. I had tried to install the base unit earlier, but it wouldn't pick up the internet or pass it through to my Vonage network, so I undid everything and shelved it until later.

Well, we uploaded Leopard, shenanigans ensued, and then our printer got knocked offline (it's wireless) and I finally had to bite the bullet, sit down and start FIXING shit.

Long story short(er), the base is up and working, Express is large & in charge and the printer is online again. PLUS, by having the base unit, I can now host Xbox Live sessions and my video ichat works all the time. Downside: The base unit moves at the speed of the lowest common denominator, so now I have to route my OLD wireless through the new base and move all the wireless g stuff to that router so the laptops can enjoy the wireless n capabilities of the new router. I got the CS3 upgrade for Photoshop 7.0 (which simply won't work in Leopard) and I already used it once. The bonus? It's WAY faster than 7.0. I hated using 7.0 if I was working on other things at the same time because of the drag opening it and closing it. Cs3 is super fast with everything, so that's nice.

So now I have to figure out the bullshit with PDF. I'm told it's a grievance I have to take up with Adobe directly. It's on the list of things to do. Maybe tomorrow.

Leopard's 10.5.2 upgrade went live this week, so that's supposed to help with some of the squirreliness, so there's that.

They say he passed away from the cancer today.

But we all know the truth.

It was only a matter of time before vengeance was served.

There Will Be Oscars
