Behold....Tiki-Theater!
So, if you're one of our friends in the LA area, chances are you've already seen this, but just in case:
This is the latest addition to The Compound. The inflatable screen is less than $250, and is only available at Wal-Mart. So I bought it from eBay. Cost me a little more, but cheaper than losing a piece of my soul. The projector was considerably more expensive, but not too bad. I think the screen, projector, 2-channel receiver, speakers and speaker wire (I already had a spare DVD player) ran about $1200. Not too shabby!
We initially tested the screen with Starship Troopers, mostly to balance the audio (I bought the speakers from people on craigslist). Shortly after, we had a small birthday party for Dinah and showed Goonies, which ruled. Our big premiere was Raising Arizona and last Friday was Mystery Men. I had hoped more people could have checked that one out because the movie is pretty rad. But no worries. The next show will be CLASH OF THE TITANS. So, so sweet.
Depending on the weather, I don't know how many more we'll have before it gets too chilly, but the plan is to have a fire and marshmallow roasting while watching Better Off Dead as our last hurrah before I store the screen until next summer.
And really, setting this whole thing up takes less than 20 minutes and is even quicker to take down.
Pretty awesome, indeed. Now the question is....what do we add next?!

Well just because you are outside doesn't mean you shouldn't have a Dolby Digital sound rig with at least 5.1 channels - right? I mean your neighbors LOVE movies don't they?
