Tribute for The Captain

As you know, Captain Awesome is awesome. If you have not met Captain Awesome yet, then you should, because he is. That's not the point, though. Today I received a promotion from Petco where I can get 1 of 6 free items from the store. They have something for everyone. Tennis ball, catnip, aquarium, crickets, treats and some bird-stick-snack thing. So, Captain being a dog and all, your initial instinct is to say "Tennis Ball". Your intincts would be wrong. After a brief moment of (what was the feeling? embarassment? glee? pride? confusion? I can't place it.) I laughingly thought that the most appropriate gift would be the crickets. I have been meaning to post this for quite some time, but nothing makes The Captain happier than stalking, chasing, playing with and ultimately eating crickets on the back patio. He'll entertain himself for at least an hour or two with that, tail wagging the whole time. Granted, I think it's better for him to eat free-range crickets than the chemically enhanced and caged crickets that are being mass-produced as lizard and frog food, but it served as a reminder to actually post this. (is it wrong that I taught him to eat them and praise him for it? I hope they aren't bad for him.)
